Check out the above video if you don’t want to read. This is my second post on this new blog so hopefully I have more coming soon for you guys. My goal is to help you get better timelapse photo. I started to share my experiences shooting timelapse. Hopefully I will convert you to be one of the timelapse “NUTS” like me.
YES the best tripod is the tripod you have with you. Usually the best camera is the camera you have with you right? You probably heard it somewhere with that statement right? But with timelapse photography the best tripod is even more important. You need a steady shots for the duration of the sequence.
This could be from 15 minutes to hours. You could not hand hold the same position for such duration, hence the tripod. What I’ve found over the years of shooting timelapse is that most photographer are too lazy to bring a tripod along that’s why some of them never experiment with timelapse photography. They’re missed out unfortunately.
My solution is a table top tripod. The one I used is Manfrotto Pixi table top tripod is the best and durable tripod that I’ve ever used. There’s other solution out there for small and portable to steady the camera for long exposure and/or timelapse . I personally have not used all of it. So I can’t comment of their usefulness.
For me a table top tripod is the way to go as you always have it with you. There’s travel tripod out there but it’s still cumbersome just to bring it along. How easy to put a table top tripod with you somewhere in your camera bag or bag of any kind. Pretty easy I say.
