You probably have guessed what it is from the tittle. Yes you have to make the clouds your number one subject as a time lapse photographer. It doesn’t matter what type of time lapse that you’re into you still make your subject are “the clouds.”
For example if you could imagine the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Normally an architecture photographer just shoot at different angle to get the right shoot or slow the shutter speed down for some long exposure.
But as a time lapse shooter we need to think in terms of time. The Harbour Bridge is static and we need something moving along to make the time lapse works. Usually clouds makes great subject. Since it’s on a harbour, so boat is another subject in the shots.
If you have two combined together then you truly in clouds 9. I have that kind of shots and I will share it one day. Yes make the clouds your number one subject doesn’t matter which genre of photography that you into and you’ll be in “Clouds 9”.
Shooting tips: Don’t go out if you see there is a blue sky and not a single clouds around. It makes boring time lapse without the clouds. Just sleep in or have early dinner and wait to the clouds next time.
