3 Software You Need To Master As A Time Lapse Photographer

Photography in the digital age means that we need to post-processing your photos unless you shoot JPEG. Either JPEG or Raw setting you choose for your photos one or more of the software I’ll mention still apply to you.

Just imagine the analogue we spend our time in the dark room to process our photos. In the digital age we spend our time in Light Room. Yes Adobe Lightroom is one photo software that we need to master.

It’s it another creative art beside capturing the raw data to play in the field. And Lightroom is a very powerful software that photographers uses to catalogued, organised, edited and share their photos.

If Lightroom can’t do the job that the photographer one then we have to move to Adobe Photoshop. When I first open Photoshop I said to myself “Where do I start?”. Yes it is challenging learning new skills but If I could learnt it you can too. I’ll help you along the way once I have upgraded my computer.

Once you know the basic skills of Photoshop then editing time lapse videos is possible. Yes as a time lapse shooter we need to edit videos as well not just photos. That’s we’re are the 1% of the photographer out there that really into time lapse photography. And that makes us unique. That’s another post that I do later in the future.

After we edited our videos in Photoshop and you feel that you have exhaust the program to edit videos then you move on the full video editing software. As a PC user my recommendation is Divinci Resolve and its FREE. Nothing better than free right. For Mac user you might want to check out Final Cut first then Resolve as your solutions to your video editing needs.

Why do I recommend Lightroom and Photoshop first? Adobe right now have a special package deal for photographer where you could have this two powerful programs for a monthly subscription.

When Adobe has the full pledge Adobe Suites the whole program costs you hundred of dollars per package. But for photographer we don’t need all the programs that Adobe provides. So start out with a small monthly fee is a great way to start.

The reason why I recommended learning Resolve because is FREE. So basically you have all the professional software at your finger tips and it virtually cost you just under three coffee cup per month. Even though you still need a powerful computer to runs this program and that cost could last you five years or more. And everyone needs a computer any ways so spend a little extra to get the right equipment for our creative endeavour.

Hang on Travis. You mean I need to learn al this programs to master time lapse photography? Yes and you enjoy it along the way. I could takes you 5 years to learn all the skills needed. Just like a full university course. But unlike university you don’t go to class and you learn it at your own pace.

To master any stills you need to spend at least 500 hours into it. But with my help you are on the fast track to achieve this, even though you have to skip summer holidays. And you glad that you start the journey with me.
