Royalty Free Music: Where Do You Get It From?

When we need music in our time lapse video? That’s a good question right? With video we only completed 50% of the work if we only post up videos only. Imagine watching any blockbusters movie without audio. It won’t be a block blockbusters for you that is for sure.

I know when I first started putting time lapse videos together even though the footages was dramatic I still need audio or music to makes it work that makes it extra special. Yes putting all this work and we have to share the credits with someone we haven’t met.

Now you know the important of audio, where do you get it? Youtube Studio is a great resources for it. They have a studio with royalty free music that you could use. Of course you have to give the artist credits on the video and in your descriptions. Yes Youtube in all places and they have lots of artists music for you to choose from.

Selecting the right music for you could be a challenge as an editor as well. For me it’s very personal. I select the music on my taste and the mood I want to convey with my time lapse. Mostly upbeat and dramatic but it’s just my personal preferences.

Once you have exhaust the Youtube music library then you want to move to some kind of paid subscription music sites out there. Some independent artists put up their music in royalty free websites so do your own research with that once you want something unique in you time lapse videos. I haven’t exhausted Youtube music library just yet so I’m not looking for some music artists outside of Youtube.

Hey if you very talented and can compose your own music. Go ahead and put your own music into your time lapse. But for most of us giving 50% credits to our video is the way to go.

I'm a freelance makeup artist from Sydney, Australia. If you hang around creative people long enough you well get the bug to create as well. So now I am into photography, timelapse photography and maybe video/film later.
