Panasonic Lumix GH4 Initial Impressions

First time in my life that I had a chance to use a full pledge professional camera. I guess the Canon 7D is a proffesional camera. Oh well the first mirrorless camera that I used and bought with my own money.

The GH4 is heavy in comparison to the G7 that I had with me for over 3 years. Certainly when you picked it up you could feel the built quality. Some how it feels like a Canon 7D on on my hands with the 12-35mm f2.8. So if you want a light M43 camera then the GH4 is not for you.

The reasons why I picked up the GH4 was the price was too good to be true and in comparison the the G7 is was cheaper. Could you believe it and don’t tell any one please. And also I wanted a weather sealed body as well.

However, the buttons layout was not feel naturally on the hands. I want two dials that I could control manually at my fingers tip. The Shutter Speed Dial and Aperture Dial had moved. One was not in the right position on my finger so I could not quickly change the two settings of Shutter Speed and Aperture. The G7 was perfect in comparision.

I think the GH4 was design more for videographers than photographers. However the design team was did not put the button back with latest flagship design for photographers like the Panasonic G9 and the GH5 was a videographer camera. The dial button still out of place for photographers in the G9 also. Cost saving maybe?

But Under $700 Aussie Dollars I can’t complain too much other wise they will jack up the price. You can still get it at this price in US Dollar on Amazon check out the links below. So a poor man 4k camera now is the GH4 with every thing that any creatives could use to create any art they want. Almost !!!
