Camera Strap Slide by Peak Design

Camera strap supplied by the manufacturer is usually no good. That’s the short version. For a time lapse shooter having a camera strap is usually in the way of what we want to do which is have the camera mount on a tripod.

Since we shoot mostly time lapse, a camera strap that can easily remove and attach back again is really helpful. When we want to shoot time lapse just remove the strap from camera and your good to go on a tripod.

One camera strap system that I’ve been using is Peak Design system. They have the red button where you could easily unbutton and button your camera from the strap. Watch the video above. The button is rated for very heavy camera so it safe to used this system. I’ve never had any issues with the attached button fail on me.

The good thing about the system is you could reuse the button if you upgrade your camera. Just simply remove the attached buttons from your old camera and reattached to the new one which I did from G7 to GH4.

Back to the original manufacturer strap, they have a branding. So if you have a very expensive camera then you are a target for bad people. Just use something that’s not in your face and shout out I have something valuable on me. Come and rob me. So I never use it ever.
